Description:

Making Space: Closing + Live Poetry Reading is a Girls' Club guest exhibit held at the Rosemary Duffy Larson Gallery at Broward College Central Campus.
Curated from the private collection of Francie Bishop Good and David Horvitz, Making Space is a multi-media exhibition that builds upon the discussion of creative practice and access presented in Virginia Woolf’s 1929 feminist essay “A Room of One’s Own.” The exhibit, created in response to Woolf’s conclusion that ‘a room of one’s own’ is implicitly needed for creative production, co-curators, uses contemporary art to explore ideas of an artist’s creative space in contemporary practice. More information available at www.girlsclubcollection.org/making-space-beyond-a-room.

In connection with this exhibit, Girls’ Club is looking for poets and writers inspired by the themes and topics explored in the show. Please submit your poems and short stories by January 1st at http://girlsclubcollection.org/making-space-open-call-for-poems-and-short-stories. Selected writings will be published to the Girls’ Club blog, www.girlsclubcollection.org/blog and authors invited to partake in a Live Poetry Reading during the closing event, Wednesday, January, 21, 6pm at Broward College.
